Come dice giustamente il Guardian, Ismail Kadaré avrà anche vinto il Man Booker International Prize, ma ci sono altri scrittori stranieri che non vanno lasciati nel dimenticatoio. Fra questi, sorpresa sorpresa, due olandesi: Harry Mulisch e Cees Nooteboom.

Roma e dintorni

Il suo libro About Grace mi ha già fatto un paio di volte l'occhiolino in libreria, ma non sapevo che l'autore, Anthony Doerr, scrivesse anche per The Morning News e, soprattutto, che avesse vissuto in Italia.

Beata semplicità

In occasione del Festival dedicato a Pirandello, a partire da oggi si terranno nel sud dell'Olanda quelle che localmente vengono definite attività: spettacoli teatrali, conferenze, cene con menu pirandelliano (stendiamo un penoso velo), passeggiate con percorsi pirandelliani (altro velo) e cose varie, oltre alla presentazione dell'ultimo volume delle Novelle per un anno tradotte in olandese.

Michael Zeeman, che in passato si era messo in luce per aver definito I Promessi Sposi un romanzo d'amore per sedicenni, scrive oggi sul Volkskrant un lungo articolo sullo scrittore siciliano, che comincia così:

Indien Luigi Pirandello een tijdgenoot van ons zou zijn geweest, dan zou hij vermoedelijk aan de drugs zijn geweest of ten minste een geregelde gebruiker van Prozac.

Se Luigi Pirandello fosse stato un nostro contemporaneo, avrebbe presumibilmente fatto uso di stupefacenti o per lo meno avrebbe preso regolarmente del Prozac.

Con una presentazione del genere, il successo delle attività è assicurato.
