Scusa la domanda da neofita, ma mi spieghi come mai alcune lingue si difendono ferocemente dalle influenze degli idiomi dominanti e altre no? Per dire, lo spagnolo traduce perfino "jeans" in "texanos" o "vaqueros", il francese traduce nel tennis il "tie-break" con "jeu decísíf" pur non essendo questo affatto un "jeu". Proprio ieri son venuto a sapere che gli spagnoli tendono a tradurre persino "www" in "mmm": "Maxima Malla Mundial" (non ho parole oltre...) :-)

HAi ragione scusa :-), ma sono sommersa di cose da fare. Pensavo fra l'altro che la tua domanda fosse retorica. Sinceramente non ho una risposta al tuo quesito. Ho notato anch'io che questa tendenza a difendersi dagli idiomi stranieri è presente anche in francese e, in alcuni casi, anche in olandese. Ma perché succeda....

Io una teoria ce l'ho: le culture che vanno verso l'estinzione, cominciano col rinunciare alla difesa del proprio idioma. Se compari il tasso di natalità dei paesi di lingua spagnola o francese a quello italiano, per dire, vedrai una corrispondenza diretta: quanti meno figli si fanno, tanto meno si protegge la lingua dai termini stranieri. Forse è una sciocchezza, però vale anche rispetto alla serie storica. Durante il fascismo e negli anni Cinquanta si facevano più figli in Italia e l'italiano assorbiva molti meno termini stranieri, rispetto a oggi.
